MEMORY SHARE: 12 OF BEETROOT EVENT (May)

JEMA'GRETHY MEMORY SHARE

The caves of Jema'grethy will allow for a few different ways for memories to be interacted with. But for most, such as those entering in bonds, it will be seen like a vision in their head, putting them in the position and perspective of whose memory it is.

For people sharing bond memories, and also memories being shared while moving through the Memory Cave, this is the spot to place said memories! It's not necessary if you'd like to write it during the thread, but hopefully convenient for others. Just make a toplevel with your character's name in the header, and remember to include any content warnings thereafter for each memory, as applicable!

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2022-05-15 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
CW: raven cycle spoilers maybe idk?? semi-suicide attempt but nothing graphic, ffx spoilers.

You see the shifting colours of the void from the corner of your eye, starting to mingle with the approaching fog. The train will be stopping at a platform soon, and you're sitting in the standard coach, waiting with apprehension for the stop. It's not the stop itself that's got you feeling this way, though: it's thoughts of the recent Jema'grethy trip, of the bond shared between you and Ronan Kavinsky. A dreamer; a person who can make things from his dreams, even make people real. Nearly real.

Someone who didn't give up on trying to make his 'dream' - his brother - a reality. You can't stop wondering, feeling regret. Did you really make the right choice? Could there have been another way?

The train comes to its stop, and you hear the doors open, pulling you from your thoughts. Resigned, you sigh as you stand up from the table, walking with others out from the train. There's people in front of you, around you, and you search through the gaps of people for Yuna. You know she'll likely be in her white top and shorts with the side skirt. You didn't see her earlier, but you're not worried.

That's why your eyes don't immediately spot her when you look towards the turnstile, joined in the queue of people walking through. That's why you're confused, why you don't understand - and then the panic kicks you hard, alarm ringing in your ears.

She's already going through.

"Yuna!" You call for her anyway, no matter her disappearing back. "We'll see each other- I promise! I'll be there next time you come find me! I'm with you! Alright? I love you! I--"

Your pulse races, your heart, your panic. She's already gone, and your body trembles. Is she going to be alright? Is she safe? Where is she going? You have to know where she's going. But you know you can't, there's no way to know, no one knows --

Unless.

Unless you fade. Take off your SCA, fade through the turnstile, go as far as you can make it until you disappear. You know it'll mean death for you, but so what? You picked this for her once before, for the fayth who dreamed and made you and your city real, and you know you'll do it again. So you reach for it, fumbling with the strap before you can get it off, and then chuck it far.

You'll never let Yuna down - you won't make her sad again (like you did, fading, then trying to push her away). Your heart filled with so much - longing, need, determination, regrets, that one more chance - you run for the turnstile, now empty and unused, and start to push against it. Ratting at the section in the centre that blocks you, and you're trying to hurry as your skin and body start to discolour.

"Tidus!" You hear from somewhere behind you, sharp and angry, but you ignore it, doing your damnnest to get through as you fade more.

(But you don't care. You want to save Yuna, more than anything. And what does it matter if you die again? You did it once, it doesn't hurt - and you didn't try to save Zanarkand and its people.

You should do what you can, so others don't get hurt.)

[Negative] Dead people turning into monsters, a home attacked

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2022-05-15 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
CW: ffx spoilers forever, dead people

There's the sound of machine fire, of explosions, fiends and all else around you as you run closer to Rikku's home. This isn't supposed to be happening; you were looking for Yuna, hoping she'd be there than lost in this massive desert and its roaming fiends, somewhere at least safer.

But as you get closer, you can already see bodies lifeless on the ground amidst those still standing, fighting a mix of fiends you hadn't seen on the way here. You and the rest of the group come amongst the Al Bhed, people ostracised for not believing in Yevon's teachings, who use machines - machina - despite it being taboo. Wakka demands from one of them to know where Yuna is, while another Al Bhed falls.

Rikku cries out a name and goes by their side, pyreflies already floating around the scene. She asks the dying man what's happening, who's been attacking, and you and the others come close. You spot the other Al Bhed still fighting back fiends, witness as clouds of pyreflies thicken around some bodies, until the body disperses into those orbs too, glowing brighter before taking on the shape of something else.

'Guado...Yevon....' The man speaks in a thick accent, but you know what you hear: the name of a people not human, and the religious group of the world. It distracts you from the fiend to Rikku's friend, who goes limp. She repeats his name - 'Keyakku? Keyakku!' - to no avail, while Lulu voices what confuses you, too.

'A war? Between Yevon and the Al Bhed?'

A man speaks up, a voice in Al Bhed, a language you can't understand well, and not in this chaos - not with Yuna and everything going on around you in your head. An older man walks straight to Rikku and the dead man; checking his pulse, shaking his head, and then lifts the body close to him, holding it briefly before letting it rest.

The pyreflies are swarming. You worry about seeing more of the bodies turn, but you have your attention on this new guy, this gramps, and what Rikku will do, too. Gramps speaks first, commanding them to stop standing around, to find those Guado and to kick them out. He doesn't wait, and the others don't either, and you and Rikku soon follow after you reassure her that they're going to save more than Yuna.

But first you need to find her, rushing inside, running along the steel corridor, surrounded by walls. Rubble and blood scattered around, the pyreflies thick in the air.

You draw your blade, ready to get through anything, ignoring the anger and disgust on your tongue as a crushed body throws back wreckage, shifting into a new skin of purple. Into a monstrous, inhuman form.

But you'll stop this. You'll help the Al Bhed, and you'll save Yuna.

[Positive] Blitzball game, BALL LYFE

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2022-05-15 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You're swimming, the faintest sheen of the water in front of your eyes, your ears filled with dulled sounds. There's that of the water, your body moving through it; the crowd outside that's a constant, cheering, alive. Your heartbeat has slowed and you're holding your breath; it's turned slightly uncomfortable, noticeable, but nothing you can't handle. You're a professional, you're used to this. (The water doesn't press against you in a way that it does, should.)

You can't hear what the crowds say, nor the commentators - and really, you aren't listening. Your team, the Zanarkand Abes, is 2-2 against the Zanarkand Rios, and you're calculating, aware of the other team and your own. You need to win this to get into the semi-finals of the Jecht Cup, and you're not about to be beaten. You won't. You can't.

The Rios have the ball right now, but your teammates Judi and Enn are tracking them. The Rios's other team are swimming towards their lone teammate, sure to try and get in place to take the ball, and you, you know your team will try to grab it, at least knock it off course.

You need to trust they'll do what they can, swim as close as you can to meet them. The ball holder, probably seeing Judi and Enn catching up on them but their own team close, tries their luck, pausing, the ball in their hands as they spot their best chance.

'Get them, Judi,' you think, as you see the redhead hurry her swim just as the Rios guy throws the ball, speed to it. But Judi is quick too, manages to catch it with her body spinning in the process, and you see the other Rios people at her back, nearing in--

She looks out, sees you, and you her, and the ball is being thrown to you as she's tackled from behind. You swim where it's headed, and even if you can't feel your heart, you can feel the excitement, the tension. It's in your hands, blue and white, and every second is real and important and can't be spared. But you look to the Rios goal, see the people already swimming to get in the ball's way, should you attempt to shoot.

You have seconds to decide. Two, one--

You go for it, righting your legs, letting go of the ball, pulling back and kicking it. It spins as it goes shooting off, and you see the people desperately swimming. There's the goalie too, and that's the one you're worried about the most. The others, you're sure you'll get lucky with them, but a goalie has more time the farther you shoot from. If they manage to swim in the way in time -- but oh, oh, you think you have a chance, they're reaching out, but--!

The goal lights up and a sound rings out as the blitzball hits the back of the goal space, no more visible than a frame before, but a hardlight netting appearing as it's 'hit'. The crowd roars louder than before, and you pump and fist, kicking up a leg as the excitement rushes through you.

1st Memory: Last 24 Hours (SPOILERS FOR FFX)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2022-05-15 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ TL;DR: It's basically the ending to Final Fantasy X. ]

Yuna dances, a sight that's always twisted at your stomach.

Now's no different. This is the end of it, of everything. Yevon, Sin; of friends and families losing each other, the pain and sacrifices made and nothing changing to show for it. The end of Yuna's pilgrimage. The end of all pilgrimages.

(The end of you.)

Sin's body bursts into a lightshow, innumerable pyreflies, wailing their haunting song. Nothing more than an empty shell, your father and Yevon already gone.

This moment, this night; it's everything all of you worked hard for. What your father and Yuna's father, what Auron had wanted. The anger, the tears, the lies - you changed the cycle, you've ended it. This is what you had hoped for too, and you accept it.

You're startled when it happens. You feel it, then you see it, looking down and seeing your limbs shimmering, flickering with the same colours as the tiny lights.

This is it?

You knew it was coming. You knew it had to be this way, and you're ready, you are. (This is about more than just you. It's about the fayth, it's about your father. It's about freeing Spira. It's about keeping Yuna--)

You look up, and see Yuna staring at you. Face held in a pained expression, and you feel the lump in your throat. But you smile at her, apologise - "I'm sorry I couldn't show you Zanarkand."

It's okay, you want to say; what you want to express. You want to make this easier for everyone, looking at their faces one last time, confused expressions looking back at you. You'll miss them, but you're glad for that, glad you got to know each and every one of them. But you can't focus on that now as you start walking, stride decisive as you head for the end of the ship. It's time for you to go with everyone else from Zanarkand, whatever awaits you.

'Yuna!', you hear Kimahri call behind you, and you turn - in time to see Yuna running for you, in time for you to open your arms to catch her. But she falls right through you, tumbling, and you don't even feel it. You don't feel it. You don't--

You stare at your hands, green and flickering, fading like the rest of you, only just stitching back together with colour. That twisted knot in your gut never leaving you, but now you feel it even more. You want to comfort Yuna, but how? When you feel yourself choking up, swallowing against the fear that's had the chance to escape from where you've been holding it in. You don't regret any of this, but you never wanted to die. You never wanted to leave people.

But--

'I love you.'

You hear her behind you, words louder than the anxiety pulsing in your own ears. You turn, seeing her back, and you watch her. Look at her.

...She's the reason you came this far. She's the one you wanted to know would have a life; wouldn't sacrifice herself for others, for have a chance to be happy.

And you love her too.

You move towards her, unsure of this body of yours, but you come as close to her as you can get. Bring your arms around her, leaning into her as naturally as you can. Holding her as closely as you can manage, comforting her as you couldn't moments before.

You'll be gone, but she won't. You'll be gone, but it's alright.

...You're ready.

You walk, moving through her, towards the tip of the airship; gain speed until you're running, running towards your decision. Jumping into the sea of pyreflies, a golden light. Swimming, floating, and you see faces. Braska, Auron-

You see your father, waiting.

And you reach out.

[ TL;DR: You're a young kid watching your first blitzball game. ]

You're so excited!!

You're at a blitzball game, where your DAD'S going to be playing, and everything is so loud! It makes you feel overwhelmed, even a little scared, but it doesn't match to how excited you are. Your mommy's arms are around you as you sit on her lap, desperately waiting for the blitzball to start happening!

'Mommy,' you call to her above your head, daring to look away and at the view of her from her chin. 'Where's the blitzball? Where's the water?'

This is where daddy's game is going to be played, but there's a big hole where the blitz pool's supposed to be! You know there's going to be a game soon, but how? Where? Where's daddy going to come from?

Your mommy replies, but you only hear her say 'honey', and you try asking again, but everyone is so loud around you. You huff, becoming impatient. All you want to see is your dad play and beat the other team, 'cause he's your dad, and--!

And the lights go out, a silence washing over everyone. You too, but you don't recover as quickly as everyone else does. They're starting to cheer, and you hear people going, 'Abes! Abes! Abes! Abes!' as a bunch of lights start to turn on in the bottom centre.

They crawl up and the chanting grows louder, and they come to the middle, and you see- you see people, on the middle ring! The teams have come out, the blitzball teams have come out!!! You start squinting for your daddy, but it's so hard to see them!

'Look!' But your mommy nudges you, points to where screens are showing over the big scoreboard. The TV is everyone, and you can see your daddy from afar, but then you see his face!

"Dad!" You call out between surprise and a desire to have him hear you, to be the loudest. His face continues to smirk on the big screen a few seconds longer, until the cameras pan out of the way. There's a crackling, and you see something moving on the screen but you don't know what. So you look in the middle, and there-- there's crackling?! Blue and white lights crackling, and you don't know what's going on, what's with that light?

You yell, startled when it suddenly explodes, throwing your arms in front of your eyes. Ow! It still hurts when you bring them back down, but you want to look - is dad okay? What happened to dad?!

But you see there the thing that had been missing before: the blitzball pool! And all the different teams are jumping in from the ledges, swimming into position, and a loud voice is announcing the game as starting soon!

And finally, finally, you're going to see your dad play! You're going to cheer on for him, and you're going to see him win!

The whistle for the game start rings, and the blitzball in the centre flies upward, and the two teams reach out--!

Memory One: Last 48 Hours

[personal profile] tactlesstantei 2022-05-17 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
You're milling around with your classmates at the Kiyomizu-dera temple, just arrived as part of a school trip, when you spot someone who should not be here. Specifically, you spot Shinichi Kudou, who you know should still be stuck in his seven year old state and not here, with the group, at his proper age.

Remembering what happened when you saw your dead brother seemingly alive, remembering what happened when your mom went to meet someone she'd thought might be your missing dad, and not wanting to be tricked again, you walk up to Shinichi and grab the sides of his face so that he's now nose to nose with you.

"Oi, you. Are you really Kudou Shinichi?" You question him, watching his reaction as he gives a confused "Y-yeah...". You back off slightly at this point, still not quite sure if this is truly Shinichi, but willing to give him some space while you question him.

"Do you remember me?"

"Eh? Ah...yeah! We met at the beach when we were kids, right? About ten years ago..." He still looks confused, but answers quickly enough. And it's true, you did meet Shinichi for the first time ten years ago at the beach. You're now pretty sure it's him, but you still want to see if you can get him to accidentally admit he's also Conan, since he won't admit it to you. Time to prod him some more.

"About ten years? Is that so?"

"Y-yeah! Sure!" Shinichi's sticking to that claim that the last time he saw you was ten years ago, but unfortunately you don't get the chance to push further because Ran and Sonoko pick this moment to call you over to them. As much as you want Shinichi to tell you the truth, you also want to hang out with your friends and enjoy the school trip, so you let Shinichi go and head over to join your friends.

[personal profile] tactlesstantei 2022-05-17 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
You're standing on a beach, your mother crouching beside you while your older brother (who you've only met today; he's always in America but he came to visit your family in Japan!) lays on a chair behind you. In front of you, a girl your age runs up, calling out to the boy who just made your brother laugh by calling him a clown.

"Aa! Shinichi, there you are! Your mother's looking for you!" The boy - Shinichi - turns to look at the other girl and greets her before the girl - apparently her name is Ran! - continues.

"You're still playing Holmes?"

"I'm not playing! I'm gonna become a detective, and that's my training!" Shinichi answers, as if it's obvious that's what he's doing. Ran continues, looking worried.

"But you'll be in danger if you overdo it! Those onii-san were really angry!"

Just as Shinichi says that they were asking for it, three scary looking men show up, the one in front glaring as he says that he finally found Shinichi and that he put them to shame. You step closer to your mom, suddenly nervous about what these men want and not wanting to get close to them. Shinichi, on the other hand, doesn't look scared at all, and even talks back - you don't know how, since those men look really angry with him!

"That's your fault, putting a fly in a yakisoba you almost finished eating and making a big fuss to leave without paying..."

One of the men roughly scruffs Shinichi's hair, still glaring as he says that they would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for Shinichi. Just as you're getting really scared of what will happen, your brother gets up and walks over, using an attack you've never seen before to almost hit the leading man in the eyes! The three men look scared now, stepping back as your brother talks.

"Sorry, but this boy's with me. If you have anything to say to him, tell me first. Well, if you're okay with losing both your eyes, I'm ready to listen..."

The men run away, yelling that they're sorry as you approach your brother, impressed by what he just did and wanting to ask what it was. However, Ran asks first, calling it cool, and you think that she's right - what your brother did was very cool! Your brother turns to look at Ran, smiling a bit as he answers.

"Finger jab! In Japanese, 'blinding in a fight'. That's one of Jeet Kune Do's techniques."

You decide on the spot that Jeet Kune Do sounds really cool, that your brother is extremely cool, and you want to ask your brother where he learned, but he guides Shinichi and Ran over to you before you can.

"Sorry, can you two play with my little sister? Looks like she wants some friends..."

Shinichi agrees, and while you wanted to spend more time with your brother, you decide that you can go play with Shinichi and Ran.

First memory - Last twenty-four hours

[personal profile] crowneddragon 2022-05-17 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The wind is restless today.

It rustles through the branches, sweeps arias across the greenery on its way, dancing and darting onto treetops and rooftops alike, fluttering through the golden-green of newborn leaves. There is a song carried on its wings, whispers of secrets and echoes of storms barely seen, far off in the distance.

They watch it by the swooping motion in the trees, the bow of branches and green roof tiles that peek through the endless circle of leaves. When it comes higher, dashes through the tallest branches of the tallest tree, they are prepared for it, and as the bark creaks and groans and laughs along with its far-too-old voices to the youthfulness of the breeze, a smile stretches across their lips.

Their feet dangle over nothingness, a sheer drop that should be a threat but is nothing more than a comfort, a warmth that beats in their heart. Without flight, this is the best they can do to feel it-- to feel as close to the clouds and the moons above, and they drink it in, as if it were a home. The wind soars on its way down, unruly and unrepentant, and the branch they'd been on wavers, creaking and cracking, and they chuckle, more amused than scared.

Underneath them, children are swooping and laughing with the fickle breeze, their arms spread wide to welcome it as they twirl over the cobblestones. They spin in colours the grim cloud shouldn't be allowing, bright as jeweled-winged butterflies. Parents nearby are removing the last vestiges of the morning markets, the propped stalls folding back and out of the plaza and to the nearby guilds.

They have to go. Little clusters of tasks that need to be done sets them back on their feet, unwary of the wavering branches about them. The wind tosses them a goodbye as they amble closer to the trunk, as surefooted along these narrow pathways as if they were on solid ground, arms stretched on either sides, just to feel the brush of leaves against their clothes.

Leaves turn to trinkets-- beads of glass and wooden carved ornaments that they brush aside, followed with ribbons of colours and snapped lyre strings. Clusters of feathers dipped in precious silver flutter alongside a carved wooden ring worn by an incredible age, next to a bundle of flowers pressed in dragonglass.

There are so many more of these nowadays; filling the Naming Tree with the presence of lost ones, but they're quite glad that it is. They wish these people well, wish them restful years before they are picked to be a child's guardian spirit, wish them safe travels to the center of the world before they are reforged into being. Hopes that the world will be kind to them when they return.

At the trunk, they leap, fearless and used to this, and so begin their slow descent, branch to branch, jump to jump, as they make their way back down.

You walk up to a red head in the long black jacket whose name soon at least becomes apparent.

"Hey, Axel!" You call out with a smile as you get closer. Today for you training was finally over and on top of that you managed to get a new outfit and even a hair cut, which was nice.

The red head known as Axel seemed to look over, noticing you.

"Hey. Liking the look." The young man spoke as you move from left to right showing as much of it off as you could. You chuckle giving off a little laugh as you did. Soon Axel spoke up once again. "Cut your hair to." and all you did for a moment to reply was nod and add a little "Mm-Hmm," before leaning forward.

"So you gonna try yours on?" The words came out of your mouth with a bit of curiosity behind them. After all he was still wearing the coat that he always wore and they had been given new outfits to wear.

But as he looked at the coat with a simple "Uh, I dunno. Maybe later." You tilt your head and respond not to long after. "But you always wear the same thing." Which as far as you were aware was the case for the short amount of time you knew each other.

But Axel seemed content in the choice even adding a "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

Understandable, you think to yourself a bit. But Axel goes on "It's how you pick me out of a crowd. I make myself easy to remember."

"How thoughtful." Was your response simple at that. It felt like perhaps there was more to that line that meets the eye, but it's nothing you think about really, but as soon as you say it Axel seems to not think of it in that way "Nah, not really." was the words that pasted by his lips as you go over and sit next to him, once again chuckling as you do.

Soon both were quiet as you and him look forward at the view before you. It was certainly beautiful with the sunsetting and all, but soon that moment would pass as you spoke up. "Our trainings almost finished." Quiet once again as the other seemed to respond with a simple yeah before you spoke again, placing her hand lightly on your chest, head tilted down and eyes closed.

"Somewhere inside me is Namine. If we can free Roxas, we can free her too." With each word you open your eyes and look back over to Axel, hands now resting at the side again.

"I guess so." we wall that passed from Axel before you speak again looking forward once more as with your words you once again place her hands close to you chest. "Namine was made when Sora freed me from his heart. So, now that she apart of me again, I figured all was right." You soon lower your hand and looked up at the sky.

"But she can't look at this forest, feel the wind of her face, none of it. And if she could, it would be different for her." You mind was on the words that you were saying, the things that you wanted to get across. The feelings that were to you important, hands moving toward your chest once again without much thought.

"Her time was short, but she lived it, and that makes it hers. What right did I have to take those feelings and experiences back? They don't belong to me. Nothings as it should be." At the last lone your hands are placed back in front of you as you shake your head.

"Not for her or Roxas." That was the way you felt in your heart.

A fight had just ended and you are a little out of breath, but not too much. It had been a tough fight but you had done your best even if it had been your first time holding a keyblade. But it felt natural too.

While catching her breath a voice could be heard before you. A rather high pitched voice.

"Kairi! You were great."

"Oh!" Were thr words that came out of your mouth as you turn you head to look behind seeing three figured. A rather big duck wearing blue, a rather tall creature that could be a dog and a young man with spikey hair.

You chuckle slightly moving your hands to your hair and running your fingers through. You couldn't help but feel happy for the compliment.

Soon you go to walk over while the spikey haired boy did the same.

"You are different Kairi. But I'm just glad your here." The young man was the first to speak while you stare at him, still happy to see him after so long. Which you feel the need to point out.

"You and Riku never came home. So I came looking for you."

The young man appeared sad, even going as far as to turn his head away. Was it a sense of guilt for being gone so long? Perhaps, but you couldn't be sure but as he started to say that he was sorry you quickly moved over to them, wrapping your arms around him and burying your head. You had missed your dear friend.

To be fair you hadn't been sure it had even been real until that moment. It really was real. "This is real." You say out loud as soon your friend finally returns the hug. It was perhaps a few second before anything even happened.

Another had been close by and had been abot to leave through a dark portal of sorts when the spikey haired boy soon let go looking over at the figure who currently had thier back to the both of you. As soon as they started to move the boy spoke.

"Wait, Ansem." That got them to stop walking for a moment "I mean Xehanort's Heartless. I never thought for a second that I'd ever see you again." They turned to face the an, staring at his back. You yourself just standing there watching.

"Just thinking about all the things you did makes me really mad. But... But you saved Kairi, right? I have to be grateful for that. Thanks." It was all he wanted to say as the person in question started to walk off a bit further.

But you weren't going to let them get away or leave. You go running with determination and a purpose, catching up quite easily since they were walking, going up and grabbing them from behind. Holding thier arm with your hand.

"Riku, don't go!" You call out, leaving your friend behind you perhaps a bit puzzled and honestly shocked. But you knew better. You knew who was underneath this form. It was your friend, someone you cared about and you didn't want him to leave.

"Kairi what did you just say?" The spikey haired one finally spoke after a moment. It was clear he was confused.

But you turned to look at him and state as matter of fact. "Riku..."

That was enough time for the other who seemed to be named Riku to try and walk, tugging you a little and cause you to look back again.

"I'm no one just a castaway from the darkness."

"Sora, come here. Say something to him" You call once again looking at the boy with the spiked hair who name turns out to be Sora.

Sora does as you asked and walks over even if he is still is bit confused and it shows on his face. The moment he is close enough Kairi takes Sora's hand and placed on the others. "Here. You'll understand." You kept you hands connected to theirs, once on top and one underneath. "Close your eyes." You ask and Sora did.

It seemed like something happened, but for you. You were showing Sora that the person in front of him was Riku. That all three of you were in a way together again.
