[M15] ENEMY: UNKNOWN - THE INTERVIEW

On opening their eyes, Voidtreckers will feel a sense of disorientation, a dizziness to their vision and inside their head. Both clear quickly, letting them remember where they came from: in the midst of a mission, some unknown entity jumping them, and then —

They're here. Wherever here is.

They stand in an empty room. The lighting of the room stings their eyes after how dark the rest of the station has been. The walls, ceiling and floor are all bright white, tiles. There is no visible door, no windows.

After the disorientation comes fear. The hairs on the back of their neck stand up. For those with danger sense, these senses are going haywire, even though any other abilities are still not working. The feeling can be pushed down, it is similar to the air of expectation at the start of a horror film, the anticipation of fear rather than being in a truly dangerous situation. It might be that they have been on the train long enough to have felt it before.

Heavy footsteps sound, it is almost impossible to tell where they are coming from as the echo through the empty space. The feeling of dread grows until part of the far wall slides open with a mechanical hiss.

Filling the doorway are two huge figures, around seven foot tall and bulky. They are in large metal suits, almost like power armour, black with highlights of gold. They wear a mask that covers their whole face. It is impossible to see the figure inside at all. Their breathing comes through heavy and raspy and when they walk their footsteps are heavy. The door closes behind them and their presence makes the room feel smaller. One of them scans a green light over the voidtrecker.

"Do not be alarmed. Under sections ninety six of Inter-dimensional law and on behalf of the Void Ministry we have intercepted Voidcraft designation Voidtrecker Express as part of ongoing investigations. You have been taking part in a simulated excercise to gauge your skill and strength. No harm shall come to you or your crew, you are protected by inter dimensional law. You have been chosen for questioning and we ask that you comply. You have the right to refuse our interview but we have the right to hold you until our investigation is complete or one week in standard void time has passed, whichever is longest. Complying with us will ensure our investigation is more efficient."

The inspector talking pauses here, as if giving the voidtrecker time to take in that information.

"Do you accept our interview?"

"Not at all." Should Ken allow it, he'll rest an arm by him - not around his shoulders, just close enough that it's easily leaned against. "I feel much the same. This nonsense is hardly necessary."

He leans in, relaxing a bit at the touch. It's... nice, when it's with someone he trusts. "They asked me if I liked my time on the train and seemed almost... confused when I told them yes? But I found family. More family than I'd had before, and more I could have thought I'd ever find."

"You are young. No doubt they assumed you'd be more distressed by the circumstances. But yours, Ken, are quite different than most." No judgement, of course, and he's hardly making an excuse on their part - merely reinforcing what Ken already knows. "For many of us, despite being pulled away so abruptly, the train has provided us a haven we could not have found on our own. I think...were I to guess...they are looking for proof that it has done otherwise, and done they very same that they are doing."

Taken them against their will. Holding them against their will. But Ansem's lips twitch.

"At least the train has a library."

"I think so. I don't know exactly where they're from, but they're... ugh. It's like they're police or something." His lip curls slightly - no thank you. He would prefer not. "Did they try the mood-altering stuff on you, too? I got them to cut it out, but I don't like that they can do that."

The only one that should be in control of his emotions is himself.

"And yeah, they could at least have a movie or something on one of the screens..."
darknessinzero: (bare | but we'll forget it all again)

At the mention of 'mood-altering stuff', Ansem's gaze darkens just a bit. "I felt some of it," he confirms. "I did my best to ignore such. In truth, it reminded me far too much of our encounters with...the being that could affect our minds in other ways."

Memories. Thoughts. He sighs after a moment, glancing towards the televisions.

"...perhaps some requests are in order. I will see if I can attract their attention, later."

"... Yeah." He reaches up and puts an arm around Ansem's back, trying to be gentle. "Requests... I don't think they'll listen, but it's worth a try." These people don't really seem like the sort to take requests, but it's not as if they have anything else to do.

"There's got to be a connection between here and there. Otherwise, they couldn't have brought us here. They'll find it. ... I know Seto and Vexen are both likely to start tearing the place apart trying to find me, and double for Vexen since you're here."

"Water was the first thing I asked for. They granted it." So there is precedence on requests, at least, and he offers a light smile back towards Ken. "So long as our requests are within reason, I see no reason for them not to listen." Not if they wanted their continued cooperation, at least.

As for Seto and Vexen...

"I have little doubt in their abilities. My only concern is whether or not they will find themselves with us too soon."

That is to say, in the same position.

"I see. I didn't ask them for anything other than for them to stop the mood-altering thing." That's probably a reasonable request.

... Right. They probably won't stop at this group. "If they can manage to work together they probably can figure it out. I don't know how close they are, though." He huffs in frustration, pressing his face into Ansem's side. "I don't like not being able to do anything about this kind of cr - stuff."
darknessinzero: (bare | consequences that i've rendered)

"Understandable."

Ansem's arm moves a bit to wrap around Ken, tucking him in. If all he can be at this point is shelter from the storm, so be it.

"We're not powerless," he murmurs reassuringly. "What we can do for them is bide our time, and gather what information we can. And when the opportunity comes - whatever it may be - we will act. It is my dearest hope this is all matter of misunderstanding, and our hosts will become our allies after reparations are given."

[personal profile] miseris_socios 2021-10-17 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"I doubt that they'll give us anything for our time, but we can gather what we know. ... I cooperated with them, but they didn't give me much in return. I'll think of what I can use."

There's not much, but if he thinks over the conversation there might be something. He closes his eyes and sighs, slumping a bit.
