On opening their eyes, Voidtreckers will feel a sense of disorientation, a dizziness to their vision and inside their head. Both clear quickly, letting them remember where they came from: in the midst of a mission, some unknown entity jumping them, and then —

They're here. Wherever here is.
They stand in an empty room. The lighting of the room stings their eyes after how dark the rest of the station has been. The walls, ceiling and floor are all bright white, tiles. There is no visible door, no windows.

After the disorientation comes fear. The hairs on the back of their neck stand up. For those with danger sense, these senses are going haywire, even though any other abilities are still not working. The feeling can be pushed down, it is similar to the air of expectation at the start of a horror film, the anticipation of fear rather than being in a truly dangerous situation. It might be that they have been on the train long enough to have felt it before.

Heavy footsteps sound, it is almost impossible to tell where they are coming from as the echo through the empty space. The feeling of dread grows until part of the far wall slides open with a mechanical hiss.

Filling the doorway are two huge figures, around seven foot tall and bulky. They are in large metal suits, almost like power armour, black with highlights of gold. They wear a mask that covers their whole face. It is impossible to see the figure inside at all. Their breathing comes through heavy and raspy and when they walk their footsteps are heavy. The door closes behind them and their presence makes the room feel smaller. One of them scans a green light over the voidtrecker.

"Do not be alarmed. Under sections ninety six of Inter-dimensional law and on behalf of the Void Ministry we have intercepted Voidcraft designation Voidtrecker Express as part of ongoing investigations. You have been taking part in a simulated excercise to gauge your skill and strength. No harm shall come to you or your crew, you are protected by inter dimensional law. You have been chosen for questioning and we ask that you comply. You have the right to refuse our interview but we have the right to hold you until our investigation is complete or one week in standard void time has passed, whichever is longest. Complying with us will ensure our investigation is more efficient."

The inspector talking pauses here, as if giving the voidtrecker time to take in that information.

"Do you accept our interview?"

"Well if you want to call an entire dimension an anomaly, sure."

Although honestly, that wasn't too far off from how a lot of humans viewed it.

"Just over a year, I think?"

"You have been a passenger for a long time," notes one of the Inspectors.

"What do you believe the intentions of the voidcraft Voidtrecker Express to be, to keep you so long?"

"And," speaks up the other, "have you attempted, or had any wish to request to be untethered, to return to your home planet?"

"Of course I want to go home," Danny says immediately. "I've got things I need to do there." He squashes down the uncertainty he'd been feeling lately about that. Sure, he knew he needed to go home. Eventually. But sometimes, he wondered if that was really what he wanted. In some ways he felt happier and safer here than he ever had been in Amity Park.

He shrugs uncertainly. "I'm pretty sure it has a good reason? I'm not really sure what it is or why I've been here so long. But I know we're helping people when we're on missions, and that's been good enough for me."

"Noted," says the Inspectors. "Then you are content to travel the Void on the voidcraft Voidtrecker Express, to continue to aid those in need, and to one day return to your home planet."

"You have no complaints or concerns about your situation that you wish to be known?"

And that makes Danny squirm a little.

"Well, I don't know about contented. But, like, are there really any other options at this point? And it could be a lot worse?"

He shrugs "I'd like to know how my home world is dealing without me being there? That's a worry. But apart from that, as long as no one tries to experiment on me I'm good."

There is a pause, one of the Inspectors nodding in the silence before they speak up.

"A scan for the system designation you come from can be taken to examine the general stability of your home world. We would need the name of your exact area of residence for a closer examination."

"Amity Park," Danny says immediately, as he feels a sudden hope that he might be able to get answers. "That's the name of my city."

"Confirmed. Amity Park. In what country or similar land designation?" So they have a more precise location.

"In the United States. Uh, the midwest?"

"Thank you," an Inspector replies. "We will now scan you for your system designation."

An Inspector raises an arm, and from the same device on their wrist, they cause a light to scan across Danny's form.

"System designation received. We warn you this will take time to investigate, and it is unknown when we will next be able to make contact, as attempts to establish with the voidcraft you are a part of have gone ignored."

"For the time being," the other Inspector says, "Do you have any other concerns you would like us to know? About yourself, other passengers, the voidcraft, or anything to do with the void?"

"Thanks for the try, anyway." He shrugs. Getting news from back home wasn't something he'd even had hope of up till now. But now that he knew there was a chance? Well, waiting to know for sure was going to be rough.

He frowns, thinking over everything.

"I looked at the void through a telescope once. Massive headache. Would not recommend. Do you know why it does that? And has anyone ever mapped it?"

"The void is unknowable and unmappable, though our people can traverse it easier than most. As for what gives you your headaches, you are peering into infinity; this is not comprehensible to human minds."
