[IC] TRAIN SHOP: VOTING POOL

When people slide in their ticket to boot up the shop terminal, there is a button in the corner of the screen that reads 'VOTING'. Selecting this will switch the page over from the main shop to 'VOTING POOL', where a new list emerges. Characters' shop points can be seen, along with how many Votes they have.

Clicking on an option will give characters a chance to vote. If they like, there is also a textbox (with a voice-to-text function) so they can give their own recommendations (certain materials in an art carriage, a preference for a meat in food).

They can buy votes by choosing Buy A Vote or make a request of their own with the 'Submit a Request' option on the bottom of the page.

Characters receive 5 votes every 1 IC month (2 OOC months). They can exchange shop points for votes. 1 vote = 5 shop points. A new character may buy a vote for their first 3 points if they wish but only in their very first ooc month.

Any requests that get their required votes will be fulfilled at the next platform stop.

HOW IT WORKS. There are 3 levels of voting pools, sorted by consumables, upgrades, and carriages. This is how they're defined:

CONSUMABLES. A selection of items to become a permanent part of stock. This could be types of foods (meat) or specific foods (pork), certain medical supplies not already regularly stocked, and materials not too rare or complex.

UPGRADES. Changes to either a specific carriage or to multiple carriages. Such as: More VR games in the games car; an assortment of books added to the library; air conditioning in every carriage, music available in every carriage, etc.

CARRIAGES. New carriages with a particular purpose; can choose from simple fixings to more elaborate furnishings.

Characters can submit a request for certain stock or accommodations, and they will be added to one of the lists. At the start of every IC month (every 2 OOC months), characters are given 5 votes to submit to whatever they like. They can also exchange points into more votes. 1 vote is worth 5 points.

NOTE. They will not be able to change their votes once they're submitted. They cannot revert votes back into points.

VOTE COST. The votes needed to implement anything will vary depending on what's being asked for: how much, how complex it is, what we think is fair. While we'll be calculating to come to a fair ask, below is a general idea.

CONSUMABLES. Small bundle (a mix of herbs, 1-2 staple foods, a couple of medicines): 20 votes
Large bundle (larger variety of foods, medicines; a few of either with 'magical' qualities): 40 votes
Materials (smithing materials, alchemy, fabrics): 60 votes

UPGRADES. Single-carriage upgrade: 25-50 votes
Multiple carriage upgrade: 50-100 votes

CARRIAGES. Simple carriages, repeat of pre-existing carriages: 150-350 votes
Elaborate, energy-taxing carriage: 400+ votes

While the required amount may seem steep in places, this is because the shop still exists! A multiple of characters should really want these permanent additions and changes, or a few to work hard towards them. It will be cheaper and quicker to buy from the shop, but this method will be more rewarding for everyone.

OOCly, we'll leave the same. Please feel free to request for things as many times as your character would. Other characters are free to make same or similar requests.

RESTRICTIONS. All requests are subject to mod review. Some might not make the voting pool straight away if we feel we need to wait for a better in game time. We will list any ideas that are pending or we have restricted here so that people know a request has been attempted.

REQUESTED:FISHING CAR! A CAR WITH A SMALL OCEAN AND A SMALL LAKE AND A RIVER BETWEEN. And the water.. the water... should be FILLED WITH FIIIISH. Self replenishing! Oh and I guess people want to swim, they can do that too.

REQUESTED: I want popcorn kernels for the popcorn machine in the cinema carriage. Put them there or in with the rest of the stock, wherever - everyone uses it, so it makes sense. Romeo's been buying 'em for a long time.

REQUESTED: Can we get weather in one of the garden carriages? It's great that we have snow for one day, but rain, wind-- just... something that feels a bit more outdoors-y?

REQUESTED: Gravity machine training room. Requires suitable shielding and materials to deal with the high level of gravity within, with safety areas to pass through without being in the affected area. Will require access to Capsule Corp technology and knowledge to create.
MORE INFO: A mostly bare room with a control panel (to the side of the room, and one outside to be able to turn off in case of emergencies) that can alter the level of gravity within the room, last model of it was capable of reaching at least 500 times Earth's gravity. Gravity room in DBS universe also comes with training drones with targeting lasers, able to be stored somewhere in the room out of the way, however this can be a later development/addition if too big an ask right away.

REQUESTED: I request more varied permanent sleeping accommodations for those outside the average of 'human' sizes. These beds are rather cramped, and poor sleep quality is troublesome. Perhaps one of the already present sleeping cars redesigned somewhat for nonstandard passengers? You currently have a fair bit of free space that could be modified for this purpose in some cars, sparing the need for an entirely new carriage.

REQUESTED: Status readouts for the train's systems, and- when needed and possible- instructions for the crew on how to affect repairs. We'd rather not be left trying to guess what might be wrong in an emergency again.
MORE INFO: Basically a relatively easy to interpret display of how well the train's various systems are functioning. And if there's ever serious damage or malfunction, displayed instructions for tech-savvy Voidtreckers to potentially affect emergency repairs; at least enough to get the somewhere safe where more complete repairs could be done.

REQUESTED: An emergency comm function for the SCAs. Similar to mission comms except activated in the even of an emergency on board or on non-mission outings. For the same reason as my last request; we don't want to be left in the dark in the case of an emergency again.
MORE INFO: Basically what's explained above; a comms function on the SCAs that would activate when things went dangerously pear shaped on board or on non-mission events, and function similarly to mission comms.

REQUESTED: A carriage with an ability to create different illusions we are fully within, and can interact with, so we could see things like mountain vistas or new cities but safely know we can make the illusions end again at any time. So we feel less trapped onboard!
MORE INFO: Yeah he has no idea what would do this, but it's conceptually like having any kind of holodeck carriage, probably two levels so people can do a big one down below, or smaller ones in smaller rooms up top. How do holodecks even work? Science fiction magic.

REQUESTED: A temple/worship style carriage
MORE INFO: A carriage where characters can go to worship the gods of their world or offer tribute even though they are no longer at home. Xie Lians believes the prayers would be able to reach them regardless. There is usually a picture or a statue of the god displayed with a place beneath it where people can place food, money, or whatever they feel is appropriate for the level of their prayer. For the train this could be a generic alter so that no one feels obligated to offer tribute to a god they are not familiar with.

MORE INFO: The practical man he is, Sanzo did the math on one of his threads and realized that two toilets for every 40-person sleeper carriage are just so few! He's grateful seeing that more Baths/Showers are already in the running. But perhaps we can have a full train cart available with fully accessible restroom facilities?

POOL #1: CONSUMABLES

For items to be restocked by the train over time. This can be food, medicines, materials, and so forth. The larger or more rare the demand, the more votes required to implement.

POOL #2: UPGRADES

Upgrades made to specific or multiple carriages. These can be curtains to the quiet rooms, added media in the game carriages, or even screens on the back of the chairs in the standard coach linked to the cinema's library.

The amount of work involved to make these changes will decide the vote cost.

POOL #3: CARRIAGES

Requested carriages. What they show up with will be decided by how specific the requests are.

Carriages requiring more energy will cost more than simpler carriages.
